Dr. Zoe C. Sherinian

Dr. Zoe C. Sherinian is a percussionist, author, filmmaker, and professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Oklahoma. Her research focuses on the intersections between caste, class, gender and music in South Asia as well as the historical and contemporary use of music to indigenize Christian ritual and theology. She has released two documentaries on the Tamil Dalit art form of parai drumming, This is a Music: Reclaiming an Untouchable Drum and Sakthi Vibrations. She is based in Norman, Oklahoma.
